The Chapel Group is a consulting company, committed to helping utilities use energy data to increase value to customers and deliver business growth.
Through our six-step ENERGY framework, we help utilities develop a digital roadmap with measurable results. The framework focuses on helping identify what services need to be delivered, and why. With a clear understanding of why, a utility can develop a compelling story, because it’s authentic. It is this story that is used to help get buy-in from stakeholders.
Founded in 2015 by Wayne Pales and Phil Stone, The Chapel Group was created to help utilities use energy data to increase customer value and grow their business. Our belief is simple: There is increasing consumer adoption of behind-the-meter technologies such as rooftop solar, electric vehicles, battery storage, and the connected home. Consumers are on this journey regardless of what their utility providers do. We believe that if we can help utilities leverage energy data and focus more on the demand side, they can deliver services and products that position them at the heart of what is an inevitable transformation to a sustainable way of living.
Returning to Australia, after a regional role in Hong Kong, Wayne observed that all electricity companies, regardless of size, structure, or location, were facing the same challenges. There was regulatory uncertainty, disheartened customers trying to minimise their reliance on the grid, and conflicts between investing in short-term returns and long-term sustainability. Wayne and Phil noticed solutions were either focused on technologies or capabilities, neither of which are about the customer. The ENERGY framework addresses this by building a roadmap based on Services that deliver value to energy consumers.
If you are looking to create or review your digital utility roadmap, please reach out. We would be happy to discuss your journey so far and how we can help you navigate the challenges ahead.
