The Chapel Group was established in November 2015 with the vision to help Utilities extract maximum value from smart metering, demand response, and sustainable energy.

As part of this vision The Chapel Group published ‘utilidocs™: building blocks to a digital utility,’ to help utilities develop and maintain an actionable smart metering and demand response strategy.

Phil Stone

British by birth, Phil began his career with British Telecom in London and is a true global citizen having lived and worked in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Denmark, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

Phil has served as a senior executive with many world leading Smart Communications and Smart Energy solution vendors including Mitel Telecom, Newbridge Networks, ADC Telecommunications, Advanced Fibre Communications, PICS Telecom, Endace NZ, Landis+Gyr and Sensus.

His experience, integrity and honest approach to business have been the foundations of long term and enduring partnerships.

Phil who is married and holds Australian and British citizenship currently resides in London.


Wayne has over 20 years’ experience in the UK, Australia and more recently, Hong Kong, with exposure to business operations in China and India. Previously focused on helping companies get the most from their information technology investments.

In 2012, having spent over eight years in senior roles in Utilities, Wayne left the IT domain to head a newly formed organization in CLP Power called Smart Grid. The Smart Grid organization was created as part of the Group’s vision to be the leading responsible energy provider in the Asia-Pacific region.

In 2013 Wayne led the team that implemented the first Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system in South East Asia that went on to win a series of awards in Hong Kong and around the region. In 2015, Wayne was recognised for driving innovation and vision in the in smart energy sector by Metering and Smart Energy International.

In 2016 Wayne was one of ten authors asked to contribute to a book titled, Out-thinking Organizational Communication, the impact of Digital Transformation, and went on to co-author “utilidocs™, building blocks to a digital utility”.

Wayne guest lectures at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), has a Masters in Information Systems, and resides in Australia with his partner and their children.
